About Us

Mission and Vision

In 2021 ASHRAE New York City Chapter celebrated its 110th year. Much has changed since our chapter was established in 1911. The chapter has grown from 74 members in 1914 to over almost 1000 members today. The heart of our chapter is our members, and the time and knowledge they volunteer to create a dynamic and strong chapter.  Our membership is a diverse mix of young and old, engineers and professionals from related fields.  Designing high performance buildings and systems requires collaboration across disciplines, and ASHRAE’s standards, programs and initiatives are an integral part in advancing the industry. On the local level, we look forward to opportunities to partner with our peer organizations to share expertise and collaborate.

Our chapter is dedicated to providing high quality programs and education for all levels of our members, from experienced engineers to our students and young engineers. Each year we develop a thorough series of lectures, all day seminars, round tables presented by industry leaders.  A large portion of our programs are delivered at our monthly chapter meetings, which are a great opportunity to network and meet members.

Our chapter is one of 15 chapters in ASHRAE Region I, serving Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont. While our chapter area is limited to the five boroughs of New York City, we have many members who live in the surrounding areas of the city and work in New York.
