The lecture offers 3 PDH credits. 

This lecture will provide a general overview of LEED v4 to help the participants identify important updates/changes and best design approaches of LEED v4. The lecture will focus on Energy Atmosphere, Indoor Environmental Quality the Water Efficiency categories. The lecture will also cover the whole-building energy modeling process to help understand the benefits of utilizing energy model as a tool for integrated building design. It will help the participants understand the ASHRAE 90.1-2010 requirement, and how to develop a high-quality LEED energy model. During the lecture, the speaker will share the tips and best practices of energy modeling and how to achieve LEED goals. 


Dan Nall is a Vice President at Syska Hennessy Group, a professional engineer, a Fellow of ASHRAE and AIA, a LEED Fellow, an ASHRAE certified Building Energy Modeling Professional and a certified High-Performance Building Design Professional.  He is a member of the New York City Buildings Sustainability Board and the ACEC New York City Energy Code Committee. He was Vice Chair of the ASHRAE Standard 189 committee, a Director of the USGBC NY Chapter, the AIA National Committee on the Environment, and Vice Chairman of the USGBC Energy and Atmosphere Technical Advisory Group.  He was one of Engineering News Record’s “Newsmakers of 2007.” Projects in which he had substantial involvement include 200 West Street, the Hearst Tower and the NY Times Headquarters Building in New York, the Newseum in Washington, DC, and the William Jefferson Clinton Presidential Center, in Little Rock, AR. He has been a faculty member at the Schools of Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University, Cornell University, and Columbia University, has been involved in energy efficiency and sustainability in buildings for over 30 years and has authored numerous papers in professional and technical journals.  

Alexis Xun Jia is a Senior Sustainability Specialist at Syska Hennessy Group, a Professional Engineer, a LEED AP, a WELL AP, a certified ASHRAE High-Performance Building Design Professional and a certified Energy Manager/Auditor. She has a wide range of sustainability consulting experience in aviation, healthcare, commercial properties, education institutions, critical facilities, etc.  As a building sustainability practitioner, she provides performance-based design recommendations focused on minimizing impact, optimizing facades and improving building systems for the sustainability of the built environment. She is also the LEED MEP team lead and the energy modeler for 30+ LEED certified projects ranging in various rating systems including Building Design + Construction, Core and Shell, Health Care and Commercial Interior.
